iPolitics.ca – “Quebec separation both difficult and unlikely: Dion”

On May 25, 2011, Hon. Stéphane Dion, MP for the Montreal riding of Saint-Laurent-Cartierville, discusses how unilateral secession contravenes international law in an interview for iPolitics.ca (registration required to view article). The interview follows the release of MLI’s Commentary, Secession and the Virtues of Clarity, written by the Hon. Stéphane Dion.

“These questions are even more pressing, given the whole new political landscape that emerged in Quebec in the recent federal election,” said Brian Lee Crowley, managing director of the Macdonald-Laurier Institute. ”It would be unwise to think that the defeat of the Bloc will in any way lessen the confusion and uncertainty that could be engendered by a provincial government committed to taking Quebec out of Confederation.”
