Larry Martin

Larry Martin is on the Research Advisory Board at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute. He is principal of Dr. Larry Martin & Associates, an agri-food consulting firm, and partner at Agri-Food Management Excellence Inc., a company specializing in management training for the agri-food sector. Earlier in his career, he was Chief Executive Officer and Senior Research Fellow at the George Morris Centre in Guelph, Ontario. His areas of expertise include agri-food marketing and policy, farm and agribusiness management, and international agri-food trade. He has taught courses on hedging with futures and options to over 1,000 Canadians over the past 40 years. He authors a monthly column on commodities for Food in Canada Magazine and assists a number of Canadian businesses with their risk management programs.

Larry’s education includes Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Ohio State University and a Doctorate from the University of Illinois in Agricultural Economics. Larry was chair of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Business at the University of Guelph prior to joining the George Morris Centre. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Agricultural Economics Society.
