Welcome to the Macdonald-Laurier Institute's Centre for Advancing Canada's Interests Abroad, led by MLI Munk Senior Fellow Shuvaloy Majumdar and Deputy Director and Senior Fellow Jonathan Berkshire Miller.
At MLI we believe it is in Canada's interest to accept the responsibility that comes with being one of the world’s oldest and most successful democracies, one that is respectful of rights and diversity; willing to sacrifice to protect our values in peace or war; and to defend the world order that is so fundamental to our prosperity. Today, we face international and home-grown terrorism, genocide, cyber threats, and predatory states like Iran, Russia and China. Canada can no longer rely on distance and US protection alone to keep us safe.
It is here that you will find Canada's values and interests articulated, and the best ideas for defending them given a unique forum in Canada's policy debate.
