On May 31, 2011, the London Evening Standard published an article following MLI Managing Director Brian Lee Crowley's lecture, "Canada's fiscal reforms: what lessons for the UK?". In the article "Canada's deficit miracle could be a tough act for Osborne to follow", Crowley's lecture is highlighted and used to assess whether the UK could utilize Canada as an example for fiscal reform.

Journalist Russell Lynch writes, "Can the UK do a Canada? The man who wrote the book on the nation's deficit-busting miracle of the 1990s has been in town to offer some pointers and on the latest evidence of our public finances, it can't come soon enough."
